Rudolph stared out the window, the weight of responsibility on his shoulders. His father was the most boring person he knew and Rudolph would not be Rudolph if he were being boring. He sighed, he had done his duty to the legacy, he married and had his heir. But his heart wasn't in that marriage, it was one of convenience, at least on his part.
Rudolph picked up the tiny boy and walked him around the house while patting his back, Cupid clutched his father's shirt and gurgled. Rudolph had fallen in love with his son the second he laid eyes on the baby. The boy's mother on the other hand, marrying Leia was Rudolph's way of rebelling against his father and this unwanted heirship.
For Cupid there was an endless supply of love as everyone doted on him. He couldn't so much as contort his face to begin to cry without somebody scooping him up and putting a bottle in his mouth or playing with him.
Meanwhile, Rudolph kept up his string of affairs. A part of him wished that his wife would catch him, he saw Leia as a friend rather than a lover but he was well aware of the fact that his wife truly loved him which was why he couldn't bring himself to tell her the truth about their union or to break things off with her.
Soon it was time for Navidad's birthday, he was content to be surrounded by just his brother, sister-in-law and parents.
Navidad grew into a an emo-pop star replica of his former self. He joined the medical career which greatly pleased his father.
Rudolph was relaxing on his bed watching the gardening station when his father walked in carrying Cupid. Rudolph sighed, any time his father showed up he was in for a lecture. This time though Rudolph was wrong, instead Claus bounced his first grandchild in his arms lovingly. Rudolph grinned, ever since Cupid was born his parents seemed to have forgotten about his prompt marriage to Leia.
Later, Rudolph was alone with the exception of his little brother. His mother had taken Cupid to the beach so that the two of them could have some time out of the house, Leia was at work and Claus was visiting family.
Sylvia had been angry with Rudolph for marrying Leia, the last time they'd met up, Rudolph had agreed to break things off with Leia, the next thing Sylvia knew the two were married and the woman was having his baby. But love is a dangerous thing, Sylvia had missed Rudolph dearly and despite her resignations she found herself dialing his number and begging him to spend some time with her. She had never seen Rudolph's son although she was curious as to how the baby looked, she wasn't woman enough to ask to see the child, she wasn't even sure how she would react when she finally did, it was after all inevitable.
Regan enjoyed the evening she spent with her grandchild, it was always a race to have the baby to herself when she was home. Although he couldn't tell her so, she was sure that Cupid had enjoyed the day out of the house as well. He hadn't even cried, but she could see in the baby's eyes that he was tired now.
When she got home she put Cupid to bed then got to work fixing Rudolph's television.
She had just finished when Claus came into the room and scooped her up into his arms. The two never tired of each other. Regan smiled, this was what she wanted for her Rudolph, a woman who would love him unconditionally, who would be his best friend, like she was to Claus.
Navidad was also finding love, although he was having a bit of trouble. Rudolph was quite amused at his brother's awkwardness.
"Do you wanna see my bed?" He asked the woman, Rudolph snorted.
"Navidad!" The girl gasped.
"Oh...no! No! I meant I got new sheets...."
In the end he got his kiss although if anyone heard Rudolph tell the story it was a pity peck.
Of course by the end of the night Navidad was telling a different story. Until that night he didn't understand why his brothers bounced from woman to woman, was that what he was missing out on? Navidad knew that the woman lying in his arms was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with, he wouldn't make the same mistake Rudolph did, he found Mrs. Right and he intended to change her last name to Winter.
