Winter Legacy -4.1-

Cupid had always fancied himself a musician, but in the end he was famous for being famous. He waited patiently for his brother to emerge, there were still cheers and claps from inside as parents and family celebrated their children's graduations. There was nobody there for him on his graduation day but Shayne and a curious cousin. And now it was only him and Kacey there for Shayne.

Cupid thought that both he and his brother deserved better. They deserved to have their parents there, their mothers and father. Shayne. He had been Cupid's rock, through everything it had only been the two of them, and now Shayne was leaving him. Shayne was getting married and moving out and for the first time in his life, Cupid would be truly alone.

"What are you doing out here?" Shayne asked when he stepped outside, squinting at the sunlight.

"I needed some air."

Shayne brandished his diploma, he did not graduate valedictorian like his brother, and he wasn't voted most likely to do anything, but he was done with school. He had survived his mother abandoning him, the controversy his birth had caused, losing his grandparents and his cousin who was his best friend, he had survived his father's death. He had done all of that with his big brother's help. Unlike Cupid, Shayne had never felt alone, he knew that come what may, Cupid would be there for him...even though sometimes Cupid was an ass.

The next morning Shayne decided to make his brother breakfast. He would be moving out soon, starting a life of his own and although Cupid tried to hide it, he had seen his brother struggling.

The two sat down, breakfast was good, Cupid actually ate two plates of pancakes. The boys talked about the past, how they felt about not having their mothers in their lives and about the deaths of Rudolph and Jasmin. They talked about the future, both vowing to give their kids the most important thing in a child's life, the thing that neither of them had, a mother.

Cupid had to run off to make another public appearance and Shayne and Kacey had some fun in the shower.

He had proposed without a ring, they were in high school and their family money was frozen in the bank until they came of age. Shayne wanted to do this right, so he dropped to one knee and told Kacey all the sentimental things he had been thinking about since he met her.

One of Kacey's friends invited her out, Shayne had a bachelor party to get ready for anyway, so he changed into his finest threads and went to take a nap on the couch.

One by one men started to show up.

"Woo! Bring on the strippers!" Navidad shouted, he was already tipsy.

He forced his nephew into another outfit and got the party started. He was ready for strippers, and drinking and dancing.

The men groaned when two maids came in saying that they needed to get the party finished so that they could clean, the groans turned to hooting when the maids started to do a jig.

Somehow the party moved to the bathroom. Shayne blushed furiously, he was not his brother who would have sat back comfortably with nearly naked women crawling all over him.

Cupid came in and slapped him on the back. "You look like you're about to pass out, I take it you didn't like my gift?"

"You sent them?"

Cupid grinned, "They were for me anyway. Ladies!" He opened his arms to the women who hugged him and kissed his cheeks as they giggled. Eventually the other men drifted into the bathroom.

The party continued in the bathroom, in the small cramped place, the men chatted and sprayed each other with cheap champagne. Cameron was not having a good time, it was a while since he was human and men had evolved into idiots since then.

Soon Navidad and Cupid were able to herd the men back out on the deck where some of the men proceeded to strip naked and dive into the hot tub.

The other men gathered on the dance floor, drinks and cigars were passed around, soon everyone was drunk but the party continued well into the morning. Two hours before the wedding, Shayne had to ask everybody to leave.

"You're tired." Kacey observed.

"Long night." Shayne shrugged, he stared into the woman's eyes and knew that was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. Their moment was broken when a completely wasted Navidad shooed the pair outside.

"Let's git dis parrrrry started!" He slurred, Shayne grabbed his arm to stop him from falling over.

An elderly lady stepped trough the door and frightened Cupid who could still remember his aunt Snowie. Mistletoe wagged her cane at her nephew and told him that it was impolite to gawk.

Shayne and Kacey were so eager to get married that half of the guests weren't even seated yet when they started their vows.

The guests thought the wedding was lovely, the couple were obviously in love, but they were ready to tear into the beautiful triple decked cake, have a few drinks and dance a few jigs.

The couple cut the cake and got to dancing.

Cupid and Snowy did some catching up. Cupid commented on how much his cousin looked like a picture of a young Snowie.

After the reception Cupid went to a bar, he was asked to buy a couple drinks for promotional purposes. He was exhausted so he didn't stick around, the last thing he needed to be was tired and drunk on the drive home.

He had just stepped inside when the doorbell chimed. Cupid cussed under his breath and pulled the door open, he was taken aback by the beautiful inky haired woman standing there. She was the picture of innocence as she greeted him, saying that her employer had asked her to interview him and she was sorry about not calling and arranging a meeting.

The last thing Cupid remembered was looking up at the girl.

The innocent young woman was a predator, she kept Cupid hypnotized within an inch of his sanity. Her mission was simple, prep him for eternal royalty, make him a hunter, and that is what she did. For some time the beautiful young woman owned him, body, mind, and soul. She showed him things he could never even imagine, secrets that linked him with a society, a people. She was gentle with him though, not pushing his feeble human mind past its limits, it would cost her her life if she damaged him.

  1. The first part of the chapter brought tears to my eyes. That was a very special time between Cupid and Shayne. They are right! Children need their mothers, even at their ages.

    The wedding was so nice!

I thought that Cupid had met his future wife there at the end, but boy am I shocked! I can't wait for the next chapter to see what it all means!

I enjoyed it so much, Pixx!
